Let's Get Social

With almost 800 bird species identified so far in a relatively small country, Honduras is a birder’s paradise. Honduras is the most mountainous country in Central America and connects the northern and southern hemispheres, making it an ideal destination for migratory species, especially between October and April.  Honduras overall enjoys a tropical climate, but also has very diverse micro-climates including rain forests, pine & oak forests, cloud forests, coastal dune, pine savanna, mangroves, and tropical dry forests, which are home to the endemic Honduran emerald. For coffee lover’s Honduras offers a great opportunity to combine both, we can arrange for stays in coffee farms in the western highlands where you can enjoy a cup of fresh local coffee, and do some birdwatching and a coffee tour.

Honduras is a little-known, off-the-beaten path natural paradise, where you can still enjoy birding in vast natural spaces without the crowds. For up to date information on bird species take a look at the country profile in

Our birding trips are led by Yobani Peraza and the Xukpi Tours team, a Honduran guiding outfit based in Copan Ruinas, with experience running birding, adventure travel, and Mayan culture trips all across Honduras since 1995.

We take care of all the details during your trip, so that you can focus on the birds.

We can create a custom birding trip itinerary for you based on your specific preferences or target birds, or you can choose from one of our sample birdwatching trip itineraries.
